  • A Prayer In Memory of Deke
Thank You, Lord, for Deke. He was so good to me. Thank You for the chance to get to know him for I feel priviliged to have been even a small part of his life. Deke just loved the life You gave him, Lord....all of it. He had such a good attitude. He took the good and ran with it and let the bad slide off his back with his signature "Oh, well, whatta ya gonna do?" shrug.
Deke loved his kids with a passion, Lord, and spoke of them often. I know they went "out of their way" to keep in touch, to keep him busy and traveling and feeling useful and so loved.
We, his friends, in our own small way were his second family. We rubbed elbows, shared a story, a laugh and a beer and, just loved him, heart and soul.
Lord, we all have heavy hearts because we didn't get to say good-bye. So, if You can get him to put his fishing pole down long enough to listen to You, would you tell him for us?

See ya on the Other Side, Dekester. We love ya, man. Jeanie

  • Darla and family-
I was saddened when mom called and told me about your dad. He was always so kind and gentle, he shared alot of laughter with us as we were growing up. Even when he was upset with us, we could still manage to get him to smile. Know that even though we can't be there with you, we will be thinking of you and praying for you in your time of loss. May you find comfort in the memories. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our hearts go out to all of you!!!

  • Dear, dear family of Kenny,
He was always with a smile, even when life did not lend one. Kenny's relaxed attitude on life should be our lesson to remember. As a child growing up next door to the Dietrichs, I knew well when the fishing was good, but dare not ask "where they were biting"? Up North, was alwasys the answer! God richly bless all of you with those great memories of a very kind and gentle man.
I know he will be missed.

  • David, Daryl and Girls:
The Cheyenne River will never be the same without your Dad and PeeWee up there fishing.
I remember once as a kid; Dad sent me to town to pick up meat from the locker plant and on the way home with over 300lbs. of meat in the suburban, on a good ole SD day with about 100 degree temp, I had a flat tire!! Guess who stopped and changed it for me??...your are right; your Dad and PeeWee. And then they wouldn't take a dime for their trouble. Your Dad was the best and will be missed by all who ever met him. God Bless you all; am keeping you in my prayers.
