of Interior, South Dakota, died on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City at the age of 69
Larry Louis Lange was born December 22, 1938 in Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of Willard and Agnes (McEwen) Lange. He grew up in the Interior area where he received his education.
He was united in marriage to JoAnn Hilton on August 27, 1955 and to this marriage four children were born: Larry Joe, Rita Renee, Carrie, and Donna.
In his later years he farmed and ranched for a while before finding a new interest in the pavement resurfacing industry which gave him the opportunity to live and work coast to coast. Larry was a pioneer and the most respected worker in the industry. He was both an innovator and supervisor but was happiest with hands-on work.
Several years ago, he moved back to Interior. He then purchased the Wagon Wheel Bar which he continued to operate until the time of his death.
Larry enjoyed working, but when time permitted he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared his life are one son Larry Joe Lange of Interior; two daughters Rita Renee Lange of Rapid City, and Carrie Neuschwander and her husband Brad of Summerset; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother Gary Lange of Sioux Falls; four sisters Loretta White of Wall, Carol Wickstrom of Wall, Rita Barber and her husband Barry of Hermosa, and Shirley Gartner and her husband Terry of Interior; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by an infant daughter Donna Lange; his parents Willard and Agnes Lange; and two sisters Mary Lou Grimes and Linda Thomas.
Visitation was held 4-7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip.
Graveside services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Interior Cemetery, Interior, South Dakota, with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.
