• Everyone who enjoyed a meal in downtown Kadoka in the 50's & 60's was well acquainted with Vi's talents in serving up delicious food in her mainstreet cafe... "Vi's Brownies" were a special after school treat for the students of Kadoka High School, and only cost a nickel; they were available at the Dacotah Hotel too. She also made sure there was fresh hot popcorn for the movie theater located on main street. • I was shocked and saddened to hear of Vi's death. I am so happy I had a chance to get to know her. What a kind, sweet lady. One day I stopped by her apartment and she was holding a baby diaper up with a big X on the front. She told me she had to get those things figured out so she could babysit her new great grandbaby! She loved her family. She also would tell me about the many meals she made for then. They would all come over one night each week for mom's cooking. • Thank you to everyone that came up to see my grandma at the hosipital and to the nurses that took care of her. She said that they treated her like a queen. She was having a fit that everyone was making such a fuss over her. To us, she was a queen. She was my best friend and I am going to miss her so much. I will cherish every moment that I got to spend with her. My sister Misti said that we are spoiled because of the time that we had with her and all of the things that she did for us and with us.   I guess I think of Gram as my "Rock". She is someone who made a difference in my life starting when I was a little girl in diapers. If she hadn't of stepped in when she did I cringe to think of where I would of ended up. The sacrifices she made for me and my brothers are overwhelming. She always acted like it was no big deal. That is just the way she was.
  As an adult she has continued to guide me. She would never pass judgement on me. She just had a way of letting you know that maybe you weren't making the best of choices. I am really going to miss her gentle guidance.
  Gram did spoil us rotten as grandchildren. Not in a material way but in the way that she loved us. How lucky we have all been to share her philosohy in life.
  For the last how many years we have alternated visits between South Dakota and Washington State I will cherish all my memories with the card games, sticky buns, (she not only makes good brownies, her sticky buns are THE BEST!), buying her Mountain Dew, sight seeing around our states and just hanging out with family.
  We actually got her to board the 1880 train a couple of weeks ago in Keystone when we were visiting her. We couldn't quite figure if she really wanted to go. After talking to her it came out that in her 93 years she had always wanted to go but... it was just too expensive. My husband, Scott heard that and decided that no matter what else we did, we were going to Board that train. It happened to be the week of the Sturgis Rally, I had to hold on to my Gram's walker to keep up with her so I wouldn't loose her with all the bikers. That is just the way she led her life... nothing was going to hold her back nor was she going to hold anyone up.

• We knew Violet through her granddaughter Bobbi Blumer. She was a great person. We enjoyed visiting her and with her family on many occassions at Bobbi and Chads house. • I was so shocked to hear of Vi's death. I'm glad I was able to know Vi. She was a very caring and sweet lady. I will miss seeing her every week. She always spoke of her family every week when I saw her. She loved her family very much. She would always tell how much she enjoyed her family coming over every week for dinner. Also the many things they would do with her family. She had told me many stories over the years. She will be greatly missed by all that had knew her. She had touch many lives.
