of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Philip Nursing Home in Philip at the age of 85
Edna Alice Stickler was born January 27, 1925, on a farm near Okaton, South Dakota, the oldest of six children born to Raymond and Lona (Johnson) Stickler. She grew up in the Okaton area where she attended rural school. In 1934, she moved with her family to a farm south of Belvidere, where she continued her education at the Belvidere School. In 1942, she moved to Kadoka where she lived with Burt and Betty Doloff, and worked for them at the Tourist Cafe. She worked at many of the cafes in Kadoka over the years and was working at the Gateway Cafe for Shirley Grimes when she had to retire due to health reasons. She later started to volunteer at the local CAP (Community Action Program) office for five years before she fell and broke her kneecap and could no longer get around well.
Edna loved her cats and dogs. Over the years she had taken in many cats that were dumped in town. She would never allow any animal to go without food. Edna also loved flowers and always had a yard full of them.
Edna married Art Mednansky on November 28th , 1944, and to this union two daughters were born; Crystal “Chris” and Debra. She was the proud grandma of three grandchildren, Hope and Care Bosanco, and Kevin Kusick, and a very proud great-grandma to Macy and Alana Jacobs and Kaylee Jo Kusick. She was also really close to her brother-in-laws and their wives as well as her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her husband Art Mednansky of Kadoka; two daughters Crystal “Chris” Kusick and her husband Kenny of Kadoka, and Deb Bosanco of Egan, South Dakota; three grandchildren Kevin Kusick of Kadoka, Hope (Bosanco) Jacobs and her husband Mike of Sioux Falls, and Care Bosanco of Chandler, Arizona; three great-grandchildren Macy and Alana Jacobs of Sioux Falls, and Kaylee Jo Kusick of Kadoka; three brothers Harold “Bud” Stickler and his wife Dorothy of Philip, Duane “Denny” Stickler and his wife Shirley of Loveland, Colorado, and Carold Stickler and his wife Joan of Loveland, Colorado; one sister Elaine Yanish and her husband Bob of Courtland, Kansas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
