  • I was saddened to hear of LaVern's death. Even though LaVern was 15 years older than myself, I always felt I could connect and visit with him. At the same time, my dad who would be 98 now, felt the same way. We appreciated LaVern as both a neighbor and Christian brother. He lived his faith, was loyal to his family and church. I believe our oldest daughter Karlin and Heidi were the same grade. I was always jealous that LaVern had red heads, and I with my bright red hair got their mother's genes. May God's grace be with you as you mourn your husband and father! ~ Marvin Niedan Paynesville, Minnesota (12/14/2010)
  • Delores, Heidi, Jerry & James - I am so sad to hear of LaVern's passing. I really enjoyed getting to know all of you over the past year, and sure got a kick out of LaVern. I know that he will be missed, and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Alyssa (another PETERS!) ~ Alyssa Peters Rapid City, SD (12/14/2010)
  • Sharing in your sadness - I met LaVern at his Mother's funeral years ago. His sister, Arlene, was one of my very best friends of all time; she spoke so lovingly of her brothers and family life with a twinkle in her eye! May God surround you with strength and peace during this challenging time.

    Sincerely,
~ Marcella Schroeder Hatfield Newell, South Dakota (12/14/2010)
  • Heidi and family - I cannot imagine what you are going through right now. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. ~ Erika Dew Brandon, SD (12/14/2010)
  • Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. ~ Derrick Sletto Oelrichs (12/14/2010)
  • So sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. LaVern was always one of our best neighbors. He will missed! Gary & Jody Block ~ Gary & Jody Block Midland, SD (12/14/2010)
  • Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time! So sorry we were not able to attend the services. May God be with you as you continue on with the life He has blessed you with. ~ Jade and Stephen Fjelstad and Family Worthing, SD (12/14/2010)
