of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 47
Jewel Y. Bearheels was born August 9, 1964, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, the daughter of Leland and Iris (Romero) Bearheels. She grew up in the Kadoka area, where she attended school through the 12th grade. She received her Associates Degree in Business from Oglala Lakota College in Kyle.
Jewel lived in Kadoka all her life and worked as a cook in various restaurants in Kadoka.
Jewel and her longtime companion Cliff Stone had a son Zachary.
Because of health reasons she retired in 2010, but continued to love and care for her son, her parents, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her special friend Cliff Stone of Kadoka; their son Zachary Stone of Kadoka; her parents Leland and Iris Bearheels of Kadoka; four brothers Jerome “Lee” Bearheels of Aberdeen, Ryan Bearheels of Kadoka, Harold Bearheels of Aberdeen, and Sheldon Bearheels of Sioux Falls; four sisters Robin Bearheels of Seattle, Washington, Christle Bearheels of Albuquerque, New Mexico; DeAnn Bearheels of Rapid City, and Laurel Bearheels of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Jewel was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Stacy and Gladys Bearheels; maternal grand- parents Nancy and Vetal Romero; her brother N. Craig Bearheels; a niece Krisene Bearheels; and a cousin JoAnn Romero.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the services.
Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating.
Interment was at the Kadoka Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
