In memory of

Norman Fauske

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City at the age of 74

Norman was born to Ingebert and Paula (Kraft) Fauske in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After a brief stay in Bison, South Dakota, they returned to the Fauske Farm near Quinn, South Dakota, where Norman resided and worked for the remainder of his life. Norman attended twelve years of school in Quinn, graduating from Quinn High School in 1956. After high school he attended South Dakota State University and graduated in 1960 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Norman was commissioned to the United States Army and later joined the National Guard unit in Philip, South Dakota.
Norman married Lorraine Eisenbraun on December 26, 1965 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Creighton. Norman cherished his family and was so proud of all their accomplishments. Norman’s family remembers him as a husband, dad and grandpa who was always there for them.
Norman ranched and farmed his entire life on the family farm until his health forced him to retire. He was a master wood crafter and enjoyed sharing his work with family and friends.
Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and a member of First Lutheran Church of Wall, Norman was a spiritual guide who professed his love for the Lord. Teaching Sunday School to the junior high students gave Norman much joy in sharing the scriptures.
Norman is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; daughter Jana Nelson of Eden Prairie, MN; daughter Lisa (David) Schalk of Novato, CA; son Mark (Alyson) Fauske of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren Noah, Caitlin, Levi and Callie; sister Esther (Bob) Schrunk of Marshall, MN; brother David (Donna) Fauske of Wall, SD; sister Barbara Fauske of Castle Rock, CO; sister Mary (Dale) Tweden of Parker, CO; sister Karen (Jim) Lamback of Alexandria, VA; mother-in-law Margaret Eisenbraun of Creighton, SD; sister-in-law Alice Richter of New Underwood; sister-in-law Anna (Don) Brown of Elko, NV; sister-in-law Alma (Gene) Crosbie of New Underwood; brother-in-law Fred (Doris) Eisenbraun of Creighton; five aunts Goldie Eisenbraun of Rapid City SD, aunt Gertrude Ring of McKinney, TX, aunt Margaret (Bud) Bousfield of Parker, SD, aunt Ann McMahon of Quapaw, OK, aunt Mary Ann Fauske of Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

  • What a tremendous loss to lose Normon at such an early age. I remember Norman most from my childhood visits to the Fauske spread where he was the absolute best at ghost stories in the barn and of course "snipe" hunting in the fields. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and unlimited patience with all the younger kids. I know he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers to all his family.
