In memory of

A. Eldon Magnuson

of Murdo, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at his daughter's home in Marion, South Dakota at the age of 82

A. Eldon Magnuson was born October 31st, 1931 at Pierre, South Dakota, the son of Gunnar and Henrietta (Feddersen) Magnuson. He grew up on a ranch in the Draper area where he received his education. Eldon spent from October, 1952-August 1954 in the US Army during the Korean War.

Besides a time working for Clarence Hullinger building dams, Eldon spent his entire life farming and ranching northwest of Draper.

He was united in marriage to Esther Schmidt on May 4, 1952 in Pierre SD. To this union five daughters were born, Kathie, Shelley, Terri, Ginger, and Lori.

He was a Member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Draper. He served on the Township board for several years. He was a member of Barrett Dowling Legion Post #301 in Draper.

Eldon enjoyed playing cards with neighbors and friends. About once a month you would find his brother Emil, the Feddersen boys, and Leroy Booth playing cards somewhere. He enjoyed farming and ranching, his daily phone visits with Emil, going to his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids activities, gator rides looking through the cattle. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends, he could even have a great conversation with someone he didn’t know.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 62 years, Esther of Draper; five daughters Kathie Mason (Ernie Kessler) of Ft. Pierre, Shelley Boehmer (Bob) of Pierre, Terri Pelle (Jim Nickelson) of Philip, Ginger Waltner (Steve) of Marion, and Lori Owens (Wade Fischer) of Pierre; 11 grandchildren, Nicole (Matthew), Chad (Heather), Darci (Robert), Crystal (Tyson), Travis (Jessica), Dusty (Heather), Lacey (Nic), Derek (Whitney), Tane (Jilanne), Trey (Phylicia), and Tayler (Angie); 12 great- grandchildren, Jessica, Dillon, Alec, Rachel, Gunnar, Brylee, Ayin, Bodie, Jhett, Tripp, Brooke and Tenley; a brother, Emil Magnuson of Rapid City; two sisters Anna Rose Paschal of Rio Linda, California, and Delores Volmer of Presho; and a host of other relatives and friends.
