of Belvidere, South Dakota, died on Friday, October 29, 2004 at her daughter's home in Kadoka at the age of 89
Alice H. Peters was born April 7, 1915, on a farm in Aurora County, near White Lake, South Dakota, the daughter of Otto C. and Sophia (Sprick) Peters. As a child she moved with her parents to a farm northwest of Belvidere, South Dakota. She started school in rural school in that area until about the fifth grade when the family returned to the Stickney area.
Alice graduated from Stickney High School in 1933. As a young girl she worked as a clerk in the Sprick Store before moving to Corvallis, Oregon where she spent summers working for her uncle John Sprick. She returned to Stickney where she worked part of the time and spent the rest of the time helping her father on the farm-ranch northwest of Belvidere.
Alice was united in marriage to Charles E. Griswold on January 17, 1940 in Alexandria, South Dakota. They made their home in rural Stickney until moving to their own farm-ranch northwest of Belvidere which they established in the mid 1940’s. They farmed and ranched in that community all their married life. After Charles’ death in April 1974 Alice continued to farm and ranch until retiring in the early 1990’s. She continued to reside on the farm-ranch until January 2000 when due to health reasons, she moved into the home of her daughter and son in-law, Fayola and James Mansfield
Alice was a member of the Belvidere Community Church and served as assessor for the Indian Creek Township for many years.

"Precious Lord, Take My Hand"
Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, help me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
Thro’ the storm, thro’ the night,
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.
When my way grows drear,
Precious Lord, linger near
When my life is almost gone;
Hear my cry, hear my call,
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.
