In memory of

Doris M. Millage

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 86

Doris Marie Long was born January 10, 1920 at home in Jackson County, South Dakota, the daughter of Ivory and Helena (Hintz) Long. She grew up and attended rural school in Haakon County, graduating from Philip High School in 1937.

Doris was united in marriage to Floyd Millage on May 22, 1944 in Rapid City. They moved to Rapid City from Philip in 1945, and lived there for two years before returning to Philip, where they lived out the rest of their lives.

For a few years in the late 1940's, Doris and Floyd owned and operated the B&M Cafe in Philip. They farmed and ranched the Millage Ranch northeast of Philip until retiring in 1982. Doris also sold House of Lloyd products for fourteen years.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Millage, on September 8, 1985. She continued to reside in Philip, where she was a lifetime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Bad River Senior Citizens, and the Progressive Club, all of Philip.

Doris enjoyed crocheting, making at least one afghan for every child and grandchild. She will be fondly remembered by many for being the "good listener" and "counselor."

Survivors include three sons: Ron Millage and his wife Marilyn, Joe Millage and his wife Judy and Steve Millage, all of Philip; a daughter, Lynn Seifert and her husband Mark of Rapid City; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Long and his wife Elda of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband Floyd, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers LeRoy, Orville "Tim" and Alvin Long.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Philip, with Pastor Robert Oettel officiating.

Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Philip.

A memorial is established.

We have always felt very close to the Millage family as our family were longtime neighbors going way back to being neighbors of my Grandma and Grandpa, Dave Lampert, east of the airport at Philip. • Doris was a SWEET LADY. Every Sunday at 11:00 she would call for us to bring her a dinner. Alvin Pearson, bless him, was always more then happy to take it to her if I couldn't. Which was quite often. She would always greet you with a smile, and say how are you today.
At 11:00 today Alvin and I sure missed our Sunday phone call from Doris to be able to do a small favor for such a nice person. May the good lord help you through the loss of your Mom.
