Hilary Paul "Larry" Naescher was born June 26, 1920, on his parents farm eight miles north of Wall, South Dakota, the son of William J. and Anna (Harnisch) Naescher.

Larry lived on the farm north of Wall all his life. He enjoyed farming and ranching and especially loved his animals.

Larry was a life long member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall where he was baptized, confirmed, and married by Rev. Msgr. John Connolly.

Larry received his education at Cedar Butte Rural School and Wall High School.

Larry was united in marriage to Kathleen Pauline Reinbold of Trail City, South Dakota October 27, 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998.

Larry served on the Cedar Butte Township Board for thirty-five years, from 1962 to 1997. He also served on the Cedar Butte School Board for several years. Larry and Kathleen received the first annual award for the Most Beautiful Farmstead in Eastern Pennington County in 1966.

Grateful for having shared his life are is wife Kathleen of Wall; three sons, Michael Naescher and his wife Marie of Wall, John Naescher and his wife Twila of Wall, and LeRoy Naescher of Oacoma; one daughter, Cleone Cozine and her husband Bruce of Chamberlain; nine grandchildren, Brian, Darin, Gregory, Gary, and Chris Naescher of Wall, Steven and Katie Cozine of Chamberlain, Justin Naescher of Sioux Falls, and Shonna Riggs and her husband Jim of Sturgis; two great-grandchildren, Teisha and Elijah Riggs of Sturgis; a sister in-law Alice Naescher of Wall; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Raymond, Leo, Cyril, and William A. and one sister Mary Geigle Cook.

Mass of Christian Burial for Hilary "Larry" Paul Naescher, age 81, of Wall will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2002, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at the church with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be in the Wall Cemetery, Wall, South Dakota.

A memorial is established.
