of Wasta, South Dakota, died on Saturday, January 20, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood at the age of 86
George H. Bryan was born February 15, 1914 in Knox County, near Bloomfield, Nebraska, the son of Howard and Mary (Eckmann) Bryan. In 1929, the family moved to a farm north of Wall, South Dakota. As a young man he worked for various farmers and ranchers in the Wall area.
He was united in marriage to Faye Norton on September 10, 1946, in Rapid City, South Dakota. They then moved to a ranch in Cedar Butte Township north of Wall where they ranched for fifty years before moving into Wasta in 1996.
George and his wife were active in assisting WHK Williams in organizing the South Dakota Arabian Horse Association. He was instrumental with organizing trail rides and judged Arabian horse shows in the 1960's and 70's.
Survivors include his wife Faye Bryan of Wasta; two sisters, Allegra Dawson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Aletha Wood and her husband Kenneth of Lexington, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John J. "Jesse" Bryan.
