of Midland, South Dakota, died on Saturday, December 23, 2000 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 53
Randall Charles Larson, better known as Charlie to his family and friends, was born April 9, 1947, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Gust and Lucy (Bonhorst) Larson.
As a child he moved with his parents to Midland, South Dakota, where he grew up. He graduated from Midland High School in 1965, then attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. In 1967, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War. After his tour in Vietnam, he was stationed at Santa Anna, California, Marine Base.
He was united in marriage to Sophie Roseth on March 2, 1969, at Midland.
They made their home in Santa Anna, California, until his discharge from the Marines in 1970. They returned to Midland in 1970, where they resided all their married life. While in Midland, they owned and operated a variety of businesses, including The Country Place, The Office, and Larson Trucking, until retiring in 1998.
Charlie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion, both of Midland.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sophie Larson of Midland; a daughter, Renee Schofield of Kadoka; two sons, Todd Larson and his wife, Barbara, of Rapid City, and James Larson of Midland; three grandchildren, Ashley and Bryan Schofield and Kendall Charles Larson; a brother, Larry Larson and his wife, Jean, of Marion, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Lucy Larson; and a brother, Lee Scott Larson.
