of Philip, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at the Philip Nursing Home in Philip at the age of 76
Allen M. Neville, better known as "Pug" to his family and friends, was born November 13, 1923, at Philip, South Dakota, the son of Dewitt and Harriet (Stiles) Neville.
Pug grew up on his parents' homestead west of Milesville, South Dakota. He received his education in rural schools in that community. As a young man, he farmed and ranched with his parents and several years later he purchased the homestead.
During the early 1960s, he worked on the Minuteman Missile Silos in Western South Dakota. Later he also worked for the railroad in this area.
Pug worked as a farm-ranch hand for various people in the Milesville area, including Bart Parsons, Rex Radway and Bob Blair, and for Harold Odom in the Cottonwood area.
He sold the homestead to his nephew, Gene Deuchar, and moved into Philip where he has since resided.
While in Philip, he worked as a machinist for ROST Industrial, a postition he held until his retirement.
Grateful for having shared his life are his brother, Isaac "Ike" Neville and his wife, Nellie, of Philip; two sisters, Mary Alice Deuchar of Philip and Helen Wegner and her husband, Argel, of Hanna, Wyoming; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Andrew Neville; and a half-sister, Katherine Sykes.
