Marilyn Kay Waldron was born March 7, 1949, in Presho, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Virginia (Cox) Waldron. As a young girl she moved with her family north of Philip, where she attended Elbon Country School north of Philip. She then attended school in Murdo.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Wesley “Ike” Iversen on July 10, 1965, and to this union were born three children Janelle, Justin, and Janeen. They made their home in Murdo where she worked at the Skelly Truckstop. Her husband Ike preceded her in death on September 5, 1975.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Jaide on October 28, 1976, and to this union was born a son Brad. They lived in Murdo and Marilyn was the bookkeeper for Jaide Trucking, and spent many trips hauling cattle in the fall, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Kenneth preceded her in death on December 2, 1991.

Marilyn was united in marriage to John O’Brien on December 12, 1995. They made their home in Murdo during the winter months, and lived in Montana in the summer time. Due to health reasons, In October 2000, Marilyn remained in Murdo year around, and started bookkeeping at Pioneer Country Mart.

On July 8, 2010, Marilyn underwent a single lung transplant. This gave Marilyn a quality of life she hadn’t had in years, taking part in the Volksmarch at Crazy Horse, a trip to the Mall of America, and a trip to Sheridan to see Alan Jackson again. She was also able to attend her grandchildren’s activities, including two high school graduations and an eighth grade graduation. She was grateful for this gift of life.

Marilyn loved to read, do crossword puzzles, enjoyed country music, especially her all time favorite artist, Alan Jackson. Family was most important to Marilyn, and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren along with the rest of her family.

Survivors include four children Janelle (Keith) Stewart of Reliance, Justin Iversen of Oakley, Kansas, Janeen (Todd) Stewart of Lead, and Brad Jaide (Joren Tokash) of Oakley, Kansas; five grandchildren Sheldon Stewart, Skylar Green, Haley Stewart, Lily Keehn, and Aubri Iversen; three brothers Dennis (Joyce) Waldron of Payson, Arizona, Daniel (Janet) Waldron of Ft. Pierre, and Michael (Lori) Waldron of Murdo; five sisters Joyce Hurst of Murdo, Sharon (Joe) Connot of Murdo, Kerri (Bruce) Venard of Murdo, Melissa Waldron of Hill City, and Janet (Cassidy) Newbold of Pierre; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her first husband Wesley Iversen in 1975; her second husband Kenneth Jaide in 1991; her parents William and Virginia Waldron; a nephew Nicholas Hurst; a brother-in-law Dennis Hurst; and a sister-in-law Jo Heuertz.

Visitation was held 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 10, at the United Methodist Church in Murdo, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 11, at the United Methodist Church in Murdo, with Pastor Rick Hazen officiating.

Interment will be at the Murdo Cemetery.

A memorial is established.
