He was united in marriage to Marie Miller on November 27, 1950, at Reserve, Montana.  They made their home on the ranch all their married life.

Chad was a member of the Belvidere Church and a member of the Gideon's International.  He was a member of the South Dakota Stockgrowers Assocation and a past director of the South Dakota State Brand Office.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Marie, of Belvidere; one son, Lee Addison and his wife, Diana, of Belvidere; seven daughters and their spouses, Beryl and Darel Geer of Gillette, Wyoming, Jean and David Calhoon of Midland, Shirley and Ronald Doud of Midland, Nancy and Todd Merchen of Gillette, Dixie and Mike Doyle of Rapid City, Teresa and Sam Walker of Gillette, and Rena and Jess Nelson of Hot Springs; 19 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Leonard Addison of Kadoka; one sister, Shirley Willert of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.
