Florence Dale

of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Philip, South Dakota, died on Monday, August 23, 1999 at her home in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 70

Florence Evelyn Hareide was born April 29, 1929, at Philip, South Dakota, the daughter of Harold and Agnes (Nielson) Hareide.  She attended grade school at Milesville, graduating from Philip High School in 1947.

Florence was united in marriage to C.K. "Ike" Dale on December 10, 1948, at the First Lutheran Church in Philip.

She and her husband owned Dale's Feed, and a trucking company for several years in Philip.  She later worked as an office manager of the Philip Hospital and Nursing Home until 1976, when they purchased the Husky Truck Stop in Kadoka.  In 1979, she and her husband moved to Amarillo, Texas, where they owned and operated Dale's Husky Truck Stops, both in Amarillo, Texas, and Liberal, Kansas.  In 1989, they owned and operated BiRite Liquor Stores in Amarillo until 1993, when she retired.

Florence was a member of First Lutheran Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #100, both of Philip.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, C.K. "Ike" Dale of Amarillo, Texas; three daughters, Claudette Griswold of Gillette, Wyoming, Kelly Manzanarez and her husband, Rudy, also of Gillette, and Chris Mooney and her husband, Herb, of Longmont, Colorado; two sons, C.K. Dale III and his wife, Vicky, of Philip, and Michael Dale and his wife, Laurie, of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren: Melanie, Sarah and Lesley Griswold; Micah and Jessalyn Manzanarez; Hester Prouty and her husband, Joe; C.K. IV, Charlie, Rachael, John, Adam, and Elizabeth Dale; Herbert and his wife, Beth; John Mooney; Jennifer and her husband, Uwe Thumm; five step-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Merry Dale Miller of Enumclaw, Washington; a brother-in-law, Dale Dale of Spearfish; three nephews, Martin Miller of Enumclaw, Matthew Miller and his wife, Sherry, of Seattle, Washington, and Jae Dale of Mesa, Arizona; a niece, Colleen Dale of California; cousins, Helen (Robert) Peterson and Dorothy (Dale) Ishol, both of Brookings; Lewis (Pearl) Nielson of Volga and Marion Boland of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary E. Ruark.
