of Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, June 19, 1999 at the Westhills Village Healthcare Center in Rapid City at the age of 84
Eva D. Pierce was born December 24, 1914, at Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of I.G. and Ruby (Smith) Pierce.
After her father passed away at an early age, she spent time with family members in Rockford, Illinois, Creighton and Rapid City, South Dakota. She attended school in Creighton and Wall. After her public schooling, she attended Green's Beauty School in Rapid City. After she received her beauty license, she opened Eva's Beauty Salon in Wall.
Eva was united in marriage to Leslie Renner on October 14, 1937, at Rapid City.
They made their home in Wall and in 1938 they purchased a farm-ranch north of Wall. When World War II broke out they moved to Provo, South Dakota, where she worked in the Poast Office and Leslie worked at Igloo.
They moved back to the farm-ranch in the early 1940s. They continued to operate the farm-ranch until they semi-retired in the late 1960s when they would spend the winter months in San Carlos, Mexico, and return to the farm-ranch in the summer. In 1989, they moved to the Westhills Village Apartments in Rapid City, where they have since resided.
Leslie and Eva were both avid hunters and fishermen and hunted and fished in Alaska, Canada, Wyoming, and South Dakota. They both loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States.
Eva was a member of the Methodist Church of Wall, where she was instrumental in organizing the Women's Society of Christian Service/Coffee Hour. She was also active in the Good Neighbor Club.
