In memory of

Helen E. Heeb

of Midland, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, August 25, 1998 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 75

Helen E. Kirkpatrick was born April 30, 1923, in Pierre, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles James and Bessie (Branch) Kirkpatrick.

She grew up and was educated in the Pierre schools, graduating in 1941.  Following graduation, she received a Civil Service position with the War Department in Washington, D.C.  In 1944, she was transferred to Smaller War Plant Corporation and Department of Commerce before returning to Pierre in 1947.  While in Pierre, she was employed in Social Welfare Service for the State of South Dakota and then worked with the Corps of Engineers building the Oahe Dam until 1951.

She was united in marriage to David K. Heeb on April 11, 1951, at Pierre and to this union was born a son, Ed.

They made their home on a farm near Midland all their married life.

Helen was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Midland and was active in the ALCW.  She was a 4-H leader for many years; was a member of the Ottumwa, Midland, and Haakon County Hospital Auxiliary; and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Capitol City Chapter #39.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Ed Heeb and his wife, Becky, of Midland; a step-son, Kenneth Heeb and his wife, Judy, of Philip; a step-daughter, Edna Alice Harris and her husband, Earl, of Anchorage, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Marso of Custer; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, David Deeb, on February 7, 1998; her parents; a brother, Curtis Kirkpatrick; a sister, Marjorie; and an adopted son, Lee.

A memorial is established.
