Ione Elizabeth Walters was born September 15, 1908, in Beresford, South Dakota, one of seven children born to Timothy and Elizabeth (O'Connor) Walters.

In 1918, the family moved north of Midland.  She lived most of her life in and around the Midland area.

Ione was united in marriage to Robert Quatier on June 15, 1927, at Midland by Father McGiull.

While in Midland, Ione worked part-time in the grocery store, hardware store, and 16 years in the Midland Post Office.

After living in Midland for 62 years, Bob and Ione moved to Sioux Falls for Bob's care.  He lived in Covington Heights Care Center and Ione helped care for Bob there and also did volunteer work at Covington Heights.

Bob preceded her in death on February 24, 1993.

Ione continued to make her home in Sioux Falls until the summer of 1998, when she moved to Gillette, Wyoming, to live with her daughter, Irene Hubbard and family.

She was a 70 year member of St. William's Catholic Church; was a member of the church altar society; the American Legion Auxiliary; the Extension Club; and the See and Do Hobby Club.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Robert A. Quatier and his wife, JoAnne, of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Irene Hubbard and her husband, John, of Gillette, Wyoming, and Jean Hennies and her husband, Don, of Sioux Falls, 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Lois Quatier of Yankton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Bob Quatier, she was preceded in death by a son, Roy Quatier.

The family request memorials be directed to St. William's Catholic Church in Midland, or the Hospice Association of Gillette, Wyoming.
