George Andrew Lamm was born November 5,1918 at Roswell, South Dakota, to Clemens "Hi" and Mary (Hoffman) Lamm, the oldest of six children.

In 1920 as a child he moved with his parents to a farm-ranch ten miles northwest of Philip, South Dakota.  He grew up on the farm-ranch and received his education at the O'Connell Rural School in that community.

As a young man he worked on the NYA Youth Project in Haakon County, and helped build bridges between Philip and Midland, South Dakota. 

He was united in marriage to Marie McInnis on August 13, 1974, at Pierre, South Dakota.  They made their home on his farm-ranch northeast of Philip all their married life.

George was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Philip, where he donated many hours to the construction of the church through his many talents and time.

George was an avid car buff and enjoyed his latest ride in Father Kari's Model A Roadster during Philip High School Homecoming.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Marie Lamm of Philip; one step-son, Ralph Dirksen, of Rapid City; two step-daughters, Kathy Gittings and her husband, Joe, of Milesville, South Dakota, and Susan Marrington and her husband, Bob Jr., of Riverton, Wyoming; six grandchildren; one brother, Frank Lamm of Philip; two sisters, Agnes Buchholz of Philip and Dorothy McKinney of Rapid City, South Dakota; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rudy Lamm; and one sister, Mary Roth.
