In memory of

Carson Flesner

of Hot Springs, South Dakota, formerly of Philip, South Dakota, died on Monday, August 7, 1995 at the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs at the age of 75

Carson Flesner was born February 3, 1920, at Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Carl and Zelpha (Payne) Flesner.  He grew up on a farm two miles east of Stillwater.

Carson graduated from Stillwater High School and attended Oklahoma State University.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot instructor, serving in Corpus Christi, Whidbey Island, and Pearl Harbor.  After his discharge he returned to Stillwater for a short time prior to moving to Philip, South Dakota.  While in Philip he managed the Philip Livestock Auction for several years.

He was united in marriage to Sarah R. Ferguson on November 20, 1957, at Rapid City.  They made their home in Philip.

He sold cattle on grade and yield with the Rainbow Cattle Company until 1973 when they moved to Hot Springs.  While in Hot Springs, Carson ran yearlings and feed cattle at the Fall River Feedlot until retiring in 1993.

After his wife's death on November 7, 1989, Carson continued to make his home in Hot Springs.  Because of health reasons, he moved into the Castle Manor Nursing Home in January of 1995.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.  He was a member of the South Dakota Stockgrowers and the National Cattleman's Association.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son and his wife, Gordon and Trudy Flesner of Milesville; a son-in-law, Fred Romkema of Spearfish; eight grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Theil of Leavenworth, Kansas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Sarah, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Romkema; his parents; and two brothers, June and John Flesner.

A memorial is established.
