In memory of

Mildred I. Lurz

of Wasta, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, August 1, 1995 at the Black Hills Retirement Center in Rapid City at the age of 73

Mildred I. Trople was born November 15, 1921, at Wasta, South Dakota, to Albert and Muriel (Griffis) Trople.  She grew up and received her education in Wasta.

Mildred was united in marriage to Harold J. Lurz on June 15, 1938, at New Underwood, South Dakota.

They made their home on a farm north of Wall for two years prior to moving to a farm-ranch east of Wall, which they operated for 10 years.  They moved to Wasta in 1950 and in 1960 they moved to Philip where they resided until 1966 when they moved to Kadoka.

In 1970 the family moved to Oral, South Dakota, and in 1973 they moved to Hot Springs.  While in Hot Springs, and after the children were raised, Mildred worked as a waitress at the State Veterans Home until retiring in 1981.  After reitring, the couple moved back to Wasta where they resided until September of 1993 when they moved into the Prairie Village Apartments in Wall.  In November of 1993, because of health reasons, she moved into the Black Hills Retirement Home in Rapid City.

Her husband preceded her in death on March 23, 1995.

Mildred was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Wall.

Grateful for having shared her life are her seven sons: George Lurz of Norfolk, Nebraska; Dick Lurz of Lakewood, Colorado; Herb Lurz of Madison; Dennis Lurz of Kadoka; Larry Lurz of Rapid City; Jerry Lurz of Rapid City; and Victor Lurz of Pacific Grove, California; five daughters: Rosalie Rigger of Rapid City; Muril Berger of Sun City, Arizona; Ricki Peterson of Buffalo Gap; Lexie Yanske of Gillette, Wyoming; Kandi Hatch of Rapid City; 31 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, John Trople of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho, and Francis Trople of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Patricia Gillen of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
