In memory of

Virgil V. Green

of Belvidere, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, January 24, 1995 at the Bella Vista Nursing Center in Rapid City at the age of 85

Virgil Vernon Green was born September 9, 1909, at Harlan, Iowa, to William and Hanna (Jensen) Green.

He grew up on a farm near Harlan and received his education in that area.  As a young man he moved with his parents to Niobrara, Nebraska, where he farmed for one year.  He then owned and operated a gravel trucking business for road construction.

Virgil was united in marriage to Lorraine "Bunny" Person on August 25, 1936, at Yankton, South Dakota.

They continued in the road construction business until 1940 when they returned to farming in the Niobrara area.  In 1947 they moved to McIntosh, South Dakota, when they moved to Belvidere, where they have since resided.  While in Belvidere, Virgil operated a trucking business and did commercial haying and hauling until health reasons forced his retirement in 1992.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lorraine "Bunny" Green of Belvidere; two sons, Gary Green of Phelan, California, and Vernon Green of Sturgis, South Dakota; a daughter, Darlene Wiedemer of Okaton, South Dakota; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Heather Bettelyoun; his parents; and a brother, Earl Green.
