In memory of

Margo A. Thorson

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Monday, December 5, 1994 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 57

Margo A. Goss was born September 28, 1937, at Mitchell, South Dakota, to Wayne and Mable (Taylor) Goss.

She grew up on a farm between Mt. Vernon and Plankinton, South Dakota, and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1955.  As a young lady, Margo worked as a waitress in her parents' cafe in Sturgis.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Lutjens.  They made their home in various places in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado until 1962 when they moved to Rapid City where Margo managed a trailer court in Rapid Valley until 1972.

After Margo's mother's death in 1963, Kenneth and Margo raised her brother and sister, Deane and Diane Goss.  After Kenneth's death in 1970, Margo continued to live in Rapid City until moving to Philip with her children in 1972.  While in Philip she worked as a waitress at the Park Inn Cafe.

Margo was united in marriage to Corwin "Corky" Thorson on June 15, 1974, at Philip, where they made their home all their married life.

Margo continued to work at the Park Inn until 1975, then she worked for Phyllis Engelson at the dress shop for several years.  Later she worked as a clerk at Thompson Drug Store and then at Zeeb Pharmacy until 1986 when she and her husband, Corky, purchased Corky's Super Valu, which they have continued to operate.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Philip.  Margo was an active Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader when her children were growing up and enjoyed working with youth activities.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Corwin "Corky" Thorson of Philip; one son, Gus Lutjens and his wife, Jodi, and their children: Heidi, Jamie and Matt, all of Sisseton; one daughter, Dawn Coyle and her husband, Ronni, and their son, Rocky, all of Philip; two step-sons, Roger Thorson and his wife, Dallys, of Pensacola, Florida, and Boyd Thorson and his wife, Gina, of Philip; one step-daughter, Diane Thorson of Rapid City; six step-grandchildren; her father, Wayne Goss of Lakewood, Colorado; one brother, Deane Goss of Rapid City; two sisters, Joann Thorson of Philip and Diane Derr of Malcolm, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her first husband, Kenneth Lutjens, she was preceed in death by her mother, Mable Goss; one grandson, Kenneth Lutjens; and one brother, Dan Goss.

A memorial is established.
