In memory of

Carrie A. Standiford

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Sunday, February 28, 1993 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 77

Carrie Anna Hand was born March 19, 1915, at Columbus, Kansas, to Ira Erwin and Eva Maureen (Himes) Hand.

In 1923, when she was eight, she moved with her parents, brothers, and sisters to the Moenville, South Dakota, area north of Midland, South Dakota.  She grew up in that community and received her education there.

She was united in marriage to Chester James "Chet" Standiford on July 30, 1932, at Philip, South Dakota.

They owned and operated a farm-ranch in the Sansarc community, northwest of Hayes, until 1949 when they moved to the Four Corners area west of Hayes.  While in that community, Chet operated a trucking business.

After Chet's death on June 30, 1982, Carrie moved to Midland where she resided at the Midland Housing Apartments until February 1990 when health reasons forced her to move into the Philip Nursing Home, where she has continued to reside.

Carrie was a former member of the Deep Creek Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church of Hayes prior to becoming a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Midland.  She was a member of the Midland Senior Citizens and among her many hobbies was sewing quilts.

Grateful for having shared her life are four sons, William "Bill" Standiford of Loveland, Colorado, Robert "Bob" Standiford of Hayes, Don Standiford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kenneth Standiford of Midland; five daughters, Marjorie (Mrs. Edward) Wambolt of Chaska, Minnesota, Frances (Mrs. Bob) Eggers of Wall, Betty (Mrs. Leo) Nemec of Littlefork, Minnesota, Jean (Mrs. John) Sharp of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Alice (Mrs. Steve) Patton of Gallatin, Missouri; 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Ryg of Rapid City, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends
