of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Thursday, November 12, 1992 at the Kadoka Nursing Home in Kadoka at the age of 91
Hallie E. Trimble was born January 9, 1901, in a log cabin on the north side of the White River near Interior, South Dakota. She was the second child of Guy and Bessie (Farnham) Trimble.
At the age of four years, her mother died and she and her brother and sister werer raised by their grandpa and step-grandmother, John and Ellen Farnham.
She grew up on a ranch near Interior and received her first three years of education at the Pierre Indian School prior to attending Rapid City Indian School for two years before finishing at the Interior High School.
Hallie was united in marriage to Albert "Dutch" Hercher on November 19, 1919. They made their home on a ranch south of Interior, and to this marriage were born three children: Ellen, Bill "Sonny", and John Albert "Little One".
After her husband's death in 1940 she continued to make their home on the ranch.
Hallie married Vernon Young in 1950 and they continued to operate the ranch south of Interior.
After Vernon's death in May 1965, her son, John Albert Hercher, came back to the ranch and helped her operate the ramch. He died in March 1983. In January 1983, Hallie moved into Kadoka where she resided until August 3, 1990, when she moved into the Kadoka Nursing Home.
Hallie was a member of the Interior Presbyterian Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son-in-law, Lyle Stevens, of Kadoka; a daughter-in-law, Delores Hercher of Rapid City, South Dakota; one grandson, Gene Stevens, of Sturgis; four granddaughters: Barbara (Mrs. Harold) Haines of St. Charles, Missouri; Roxy (Mrs. Vernon) Richardson of Longvalley, South Dakota; Mary (Mrs. Denver) Rost of Rapid City, South Dakota; and Nancy (Mrs. Gene) Flagler, of Piedmont, South Dakota; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eloise Brown, of Kadoka; four half-sisters: Grace Montgomery of Vancouver, Washington; Bessie Cornelius of Wounded Knee, South Dakota; Emma Nelson and Shirley Plume, both of Manderson, South Dakota; four half-brothers: James G. Trimble of Pensacola, Florida; Dave Trimble of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Gene Trimble of Deadwood, South Dakota; and Charles E. Trimble of Omaha, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her first husband, Albert, and her second husband, Vernon, she was preceded in death by her three children, John "Little One" Hercher in 1983, Ellen (Mrs. Lyle) Stevens in 1991, and William "Sonny" Hercher in 1992; one brother, Henry Trimble; one half-brother, Albert W. Trimble; and two half-sisters, Gertrude Ziphler and Leona Garry.
