In memory of

Celestine H. Gebes

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, December 4, 1991 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 73

Celestine H. Brech, better known as "Sally" to her family and friends, was born July 1, 1918, on a farm near Parkston, South Dakota, to Joseph and Mary T. (Miller) Brech.

In 1923 she moved with her parents to a farm southwest of Cottonwood, South Dakota.  She grew up and attended rural schools in that area.

As a young lady she moved into Philip where she worked as a waitress for the B & M Cafe and later moving to Rapid City where she worked as a waitress for four and a half years before moving back to Philip where she worked at the Midway Cafe for several years.

She was united in marriage to Albert Jerome "Jerry" Gebes on May 26, 1955, at Philip, South Dakota.

They made their home on Jerry's parents homestead, two miles west and three-forths of a mile south of Billsburg, South Dakota, which they operated until retiring and moving into Philip in 1979.

Her husband preceded her in death on August 7, 1989.  Shen then continued to make her home in Philip.

Sally was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Tribe 9 of the Evening Guild.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Michael L. Gebes of Milesville, South Dakota; her daughter, Janis Konst of Philip; 9 grandchildren; one brother, Theodore "Ted" Brech of Parkston, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Jerry, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Urban Brech, Delmar Brech, Joseph Brech Jr., and Raymond Brech; and three sisters, Hildegard Hohn, Lucille Smith, and Irene McIlravy.
