Leo C. Foster

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, November 30, 1991 at his home in Wall at the age of 81

Leo C. Foster was born December 10, 1909, to Clifford and Anna (Volz) Foster on a farm nrothwest of Wall, South Dakota.

He grew up in that area and attended Cedar Canyon Rural School prior to graduating from Wall High School in 1928.  While in high school, Leo worked for the Bank of Wall.

He was united in marriage to Doris A. "Murph" Way on March 4, 1930, at Quinn, South Dakota.  They owned and operated a farm-ranch nine miles northwest of Wall, South Dakota.

During the W.P.A. Days he worked on construction of the road through the Badlands National Park.

In 1956 they moved from the farm-ranch into Wall but they continued to operate the farm-ranch until 1973.  While in Wall he worked for several years at the Wall Bowling Alley.

He retired in May 1975 following his open heart surgery, but kept very active with his gardening and wood crafts.  Leo was also an avid baseball fan.

His wife preceded him in death on August 26, 1991.

Leo was a member of the Wall Methodist Church and the Modern Woodman.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two sons, Dennis and his wife, Judy, Foster of Wall, and Arlen Foster of Wall; three daughters, Marsha Vaughn of Flower Mound, Texas, Barbara (Mrs. Chuck) Reoh of Rapid City, and Lynda (Mrs. Ted) Staikoff of Black Hawk, South Dakota; one son-in-law, Kenny Parker of Pierre, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Delos and his wife, Deloris, Foster of Wall; two sisters, Vernie Paulsen of Wall, and Irma (Mrs. Scott) Babcock of Rapid City, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Murph, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Dixie Parker on June 5, 1991, and his parents.
