of Interior, South Dakota, died on Monday, July 22, 1991 at the Rapid City Care Center in Rapid City at the age of 79
Helen I. Hansen was born May 17, 1912, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Herman and Ida (Milgard) Hansen. She grew up in the Minneapolis area where she received her elementary and high school education. She then attended college in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where she received her teaching certificate.
As a young lady she moved to the Wanamaker area in western South Dakota where she taught rural school for several years.
Helen was united in marriage to Lynn James Harvey on January 8, 1938, at Hot Springs, South Dakota.
They made their home in the Interior area where they farmed and ranched for several years. Later they moved into Interior where they owned and operated the Cowboy Corner Grocery Store until retiring. They continued to reside in Interior. Her husband preceded her in death on December 30, 1976. She continued to live in Interior until about ten years ago when she moved to Rapid City.
Helen was a member of the Interior Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Interior Current Event Club for many years.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Donald Harvey and his wife, Patty, of Interior, and Paul Harvey and his wife, Linda, of Interior; one daughter, Janet Mattson and her husband, Dr. William Mattson, of Rapid City; eight grandchildren, Darrin Lloyd Harvey, Matthew Lynn Harvey, Kristin R. Harvey, Tricia L. Harvey, Wendy J. Harvey, Dustin R. Harvey, Jon Eric Mattson, and James Harvey Mattson; two sisters, Lucille (Mrs. Lee) Sogn of California, and Margaret (Mrs. Donald) Burkness of Maryland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Lynn, she was preceded in death by her parents.
