In memory of

Delila M. Staben

of Milesville, South Dakota, died on Thursday, May 31, 1990 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 81

Delila M. Willuweit was born June 1, 1908, on her parents' homestead notheast of Quinn, South Dakota, to Gustav and Rosina (Hermann) Willuweit.

She grew up and received her education in a rural school in that area.

Delila did domestic work for various ranchers and farmers in the Quinn area.

She was united in marriage to Leo J. Staben on June 30, 1931, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Quinn.

They owned and operated a farm northwest of Milesville all their married life.  They both were weather observers for the Inland Airways for a number of years.  Her husband preceded her in death on October 2, 1979, and she continued to make her home on the farm until her death.

Delila was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Milesville where she also served with the Ladies Aid, later known as LWML.  She was a charter member of the Milesville Extension Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a Gold Star Sister, the Bad River Senior Citizens Center of Philip, and was a former member of the Hans P. Peterson Hospital Auxiliary.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son and daughter-in-law, Paul, and his wife, Donna Staben of Milesville; two grandchildren, Denise and Tina Staben of Milesville; one brother, Alvin Willuweit of Las Vegas, Nevada; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Leo, she was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers, Art, Bert, Chris, Ferdinand, Gerhart, Harold, Bill, and two in infancy; and two sisters in infancy.
