of Scenic, South Dakota, died on Sunday, July 23, 1989 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 86
Robert J. Habinck, better known as "Bob" to his family and friends, was born September 5, 1902, at Des Moines, Iowa, to William and Mamie (Cavot) Habinck.
In 1908 the family headed west by railroad, going as far as the railroad, to Dallas, South Dakota. Bob started school in Dallas and finished in the Wewela, South Dakota, school system.
After finishing school, Bob farmed with his dad near Wewela and in the Spring View, Nebraska, area.
He met and later married Kathleen Manifold on June 30, 1926, at Burke, South Dakota.
They moved to a farm near Martin, South Dakota, and in 1928 they moved to a farm on Cuny Table, south of Scenic, South Dakota. In 1937 they moved to the Clark ranch north of Scenic until moving to their present ranch, seven miles north of Scenic, in 1951.
Bob was a member of the United Church of Christ in Scenic, and the Eagles Club and the Moose Lodge, both in Rapid City.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kathleen; one son, John Habinck, of Rapid City, South Dakota; three daughters, Mary Alice (Mrs. Ray) Juliussen, of LaGrande, Oregon, Donna Belle (Mrs. Dean) Talty of Wall, South Dakota, and Mildred Jean (Mrs. Lawrence) Gartrell of Carthage, Missouri; one sister, Blanche Knipping of New Hampshire; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mabel Habinck and Maude Gierau; one brother, Bill Habinck; and one grandson.
