Zelma B. Goff, better known as "Peggy" to her family and friends, was born February 5, 1909, in Altoona, Kansas, to James Monroe and Opha (Watson) Goff.

In 1912 she moved with her parents, two sisters, and one brother to a homestead five miles south of Colome, South Dakota.  They lived in Tripp County, South Dakota, until 1927 when they moved with her mother, sisters, and brothers to Mellette County, near Wood, South Dakota.

Her husband preceded her in death on June 11, 1974.

In 1976, Peggy sold her ranch to her son, Gordon, and on June 11, 1978, she purchased a home in Philip, South Dakota, where she resided until the time of her death.

Peggy joined the Presbyterian Church on May 18, 1975, in Martin, South Dakota, and transferred to the Philip Presbyterian Church in 1978 where she was an active member.  She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #173 and the Bad River Senior Citizens Center, both of Philip, South Dakota.
