Edgar T. Curtis, better known as "Ed" to his family and friends, was born March 15, 1898, at Winnebago, Nebraska, to George W. and Sara (White) Curtis.

He grew up and received his education in Nebraska.  At the age of sixteen he left home and worked for his uncle in Iowa for several years before moving to Forestburg, South Dakota, where he worked for various farmers.

Edgar was united in marriage to Blanche Waldron on February 15, 1918, at Forestburg, South Dakota.

They owned and operated a farm in the Iroquois, South Dakota, area until moving to Canning, South Dakota, in 1922.  They moved to the Milesville area in 1923 where they owned and operated a farm-ranch.  In 1947 they moved into Philip and continued to own the farm-ranch operation.

While in Philip, Ed worked as a custodian at the Philip High School for eight years and then worked with his wife in the laundry department at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip until retiring in 1973 after eleven years of service.

After retirement they continued to make their home in Philip.

Edgar attended the Methodist Church in Philip, and was a member of the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association.
