Lulu taught school for thirty years in the Midwest, of which the last few years were at Kadoka, Ellsworth AFB, Manderson, and the Wanblee Day School before retiring.
Lulu was united in marriage to Clarence F. Uhlir on August 9, 1927, at Philip, South Dakota.
Clarence preceded her in death on November 8, 1970.
She continued to make her home in Kadoka and on March 18, 1985, she moved into the Kadoka Care Center.
