Ruth Dearborn, daughter of Charles and Annie (Phillips) Dearborn, was born July 16, 1910, at Doland, South Dakota.  She grew up and received her education in Doland and then attended Junior College in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

She was united in marriage to Robert J. Byrne on December 30, 1933, at Doland, South Dakota.

They lived on a ranch in the Fireside and Timberlake, South Dakota areas from 1933 until moving to the Ottumwa, South Dakota area in 1954.  They lived there until moving to Mill Iron, Montana in 1970.

She taught school for 23 years in South Dakota and two years in Montana before retiring.

In 1980 they moved to Belle Fourche, South Dakota.

Robert preceded her in death in 1983 and she continued to make her home in Belle Fourche.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and belonged to the Retired Teachers Association.

Grateful for having shared her life are her four sons, Pat and Nelda Byrne of Mill Iron, Montana, Jim and Betty Jane Byrne of Sturgis, South Dakota, Tim and Arleen Byrne of Gillette, Wyoming, and Larry and Barbara Byrne of Sheridan, Wyoming; one daughter, Kathy and Gilbert Wood of Newell, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Art Dearborn and Harry Dearborn, both of Mobridge, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ramona Jean Byrne; a granddaughter, Eillen Marie Byrne; one sister, Irene Dudly; and three brothers, Chester, John, and Emil Dearborn.
