In memory of

Alvin L. "Al" Drewitz

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, May 10, 1986 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 54

Alvin L. Drewtiz, better known as "Al" to his family and friends, was born December 8,. 1931, on a farm near Bowdle, South Dakota, to John and Alvina (Buechler) Drewitz.

As a child he moved with his parents to Wolsey, South Dkota, and then to a farm near Crieghton, South Dakota, in 1936.  He grew up and received his education in that area.

Al served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed mostly in Anchorage, Alaska.  After his discharge he returned to the Crieghton area where he worked for Erwin Eisenbraun.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Schuler on June 7, 1955, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Quinn, South Dakota.

They farmed for one year in the Creighton area before moving into Wall in 1956.  Al started working for the Wall Drug Auto Livery on August 1, 1956, and soon became manager, a position he held until his death.

Al was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Wall.  He served as the Wall Volunteer Fire Chief from February 8, 1974, until his death, and had been a member of the department for the past 25 years.  He also was a member of the Wall American Legion and the Wall Volunteer Ambulance.

Grateful for having share his life are his wife, Marilyn of Wall; one son, Gene Drewitz of Wall; two daughters, Mrs. Matt (Gina) Brekhus of San Rafael, California, and Gwen Drewitz of Wall; five brothers, Oscar Drewitz of Rapid City, South Dakota, Edwin Drewitz, Edmond and Oscar Eisenbraun, all of Creighton, South Dakota, and Otto Eisenbraun of Wall, South Dakota; one sister, Mathilda "Tillie" Eisenbraun of Creighton; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Martin Eisenbraun, and two brothers, Erwin and Leo Eisenbraun.
