In memory of

Frank G. Bauman Sr.

of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Friday, September 20, 1985 at the Kadoka Care Center in Kadoka at the age of 95

Frank Gregory Bauman, Sr. was born the son of Frank and Mary (Richards) Bauman on June 6, 1890, at the Big Sandy Stage Station near Powell, Nebraska.  He grew up and received his education in that area, and later graduated from the Grand Island Business College.

In 1911 he moved to Cody, Nebraska, where he worked for a bank and lumberyard and then as a foreman on the Frank Livermont Ranch for seven years.  While working on the Livermont Ranch, he filed on a homestead and was the second person to do so in Bennett County, South Dakota.  After he proved up on the claim, he sold it to Livermont.

While at the ranch, he became acquainted to Susie Brown, whom he was united in marriage to on July 21, 1918, at the Brown Ranch south of Belvidere, South Dakota.  After their marriage, they ranched in Washabaugh County near Longvalley until 1983 when he moved into the Kadoka Care Center.

His wife, Susie, preceded him in death on February 7, 1976.

Frank served as chairman of the Kadoka Equity Union Exchange for several years and during the 1930's he served as chairman of the Washabaugh County Relief Board and the Agricultural Adjustment Association, also known as the Triple A.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Frank Bauman, Jr. of Longvalley; his daughter, Shirley Phillips of Henderson, Nevada; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. E.K. "Elven" Bauman of Loveland, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Susie, he was preceded in death by one son in infancy, his parents, and two brothers, John and Joe.
