of Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, December 9, 1983 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 73
Robert Harold Lampert was born September 27, 1910, at Philip, South Dakota, to Mr. and Mrs. David Lampert.
He graduated from Philip High School and attended college at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
On September 20, 1941, Robert was united in marriage to Shirley L. Rumsey at South Sioux City, Nebraska. They ranched south of Philip until the present time, having a semi-retirement home in Rapid Valley since 1972.
Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Philip, the Philip Masonic Lodge, and the Rapid City Elks Lodge #1187. He was also a member of the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association and the Black Hills Sierra Club. He has served as either President or Vice-President on the White River Grazing Association from 1941-1972.
In 1972 he was awarded a plaque for this outstanding service. Bob was Jackson County Democratic Chairman for many years and was appointed for a short time to serve on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Home Administration. In 1973 he was given an award for outstanding conservationalist from the Jackson County Soil Conservation.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of Rapid City; two daughters, Norma Jiskra of Madison, Connecticut, and Viola Moody of Philip; one sister, Eva Roghair of Okaton; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Herbert, and two infant sisters.
A memorial has been established to the Diabetic Research Foundation.
