of Murdo, South Dakota, died on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 66
Charles Duane Buxcel was born January 25, 1952, in Murdo, South Dakota the third of seven children born to Albert and Evelyn (Baker) Buxcel. He grew up on the farm northwest of Okaton and attended grade school at Pershing rural school, before attending Murdo High School. After graduating from Murdo High School in 1970, he attended National College of Business in Rapid City, where he earned an Associates Degree . In 1972, he entered the Army National Guard, and was medically discharged in 1973.
In 1977, he was united in marriage to Debra Dominicak, and to this union were born two daughters Misty and Anna Marie. They made their home northwest of Okaton, where Charlie farmed and ranched with his father and brother. In the late 2000’s he moved off the ranch and into Murdo, where he owned and operated a trailer court, guided deer and pheasant hunters, and sprayed crops.
Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool. He was a member of the ASCS committee in Murdo, for a number of years. He was also a member of the Jones County Sportsmen Club and served as president for a term.
Survivors include his daughter Misty Niemeyer of Massachusetts; three brothers Wendell Buxcel of Kadoka, Dale Buxcel of Murdo, and Gene Buxcel of Sidney, Montana; three sisters Nadine Hatheway of Murdo, Diane Long and her husband Kevin of Conroe, Texas, and Krysti Barnes and her husband Todd of Murdo; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his stillborn daughter Anna Marie; and his parents Albert and Evelyn Buxcel.
A memorial is established to the St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, March 12, at St. Peter Lutheran Church south of Midland.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, March 12, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with Pastor Gregory Hinners officiating.
Interment will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
