of Englewood, Colorado, formerly of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, May 22, 1998 at the Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado at the age of 56
Gordon Schulz was born June 14, 1942, on his parent's, Herman and Mildred Schulz, homestead in Jackson county south of Philip, South Dakota. He grew up on the homestead and graduated as valedictorian of his class. As a young man he farmed and ranched with his parents.
After his father's death, his mother and him made their home on the former Ernest Schulz farm-ranch which he continued to own until his death. In the late 1970's, Gordon moved to Colorado where he was employed in the oil fields of Colorado, Wyoming, and also Saudia Arabia.
In 1982, he returned to Philip, South Dakota. While in Philip, he worked as a truck driver for road construction in South Dakota and Minnesota. In 1994 he returned to Denver, Colorado where he was employed at the Walmart store until illness forced his retirement in January 1998.
Survivors include one brother, Kenneth (JoAnn) Schulz of Philip; three step-children, Lynette Barela, Bradley Jones, and Chad Jones; seven step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Janice (Mike) Schofield of Philip, Rose (Larry) Schulz of Philip, and Roger Schulz; a special friend, Delberto of Englewood, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle Schulz, and Myron Schulz as an infant; and one sister, Elaine Omdahl.
