Edward T. Bodkin was born on January 13, 1917, southwest of Milesville, South Dakota, to Thomas and Elizabeth (Kalkhammer) Bodkin. He grew up and received his education in the Milesville area.

Edward was united in marriage to Opal Anderson on November 30, 1946, in Rapid City. They owned and operated his parent's homestead southwest of Milesville until 1963 when they moved into Philip where they owned and operated the card room until they retired in October 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Opal, of Philip; four daughters, Karen Snyder, of Philip, Donna Grimson, of Kadoka, Betty Sagdalen, of Rapid City, and Linda Wilkie, of Box Elder; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Emma and Louise.
