In memory of

Bernice Anderson

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood at the age of 90

Bernice C. Sebade was born August 13, 1926, in Wall, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Mooney) Sebade. She grew up in Wall and as a young girl she worked for her parents at the drug store, and also her Aunt Louise Schone at her cafe. She received her education in Wall, graduating from Wall High School.

After graduation, she moved to Washington State where she worked for Boeing during the war. She then returned to Wall, where she met Frank Anderson. They were united in marriage on May 11, 1946, in Wall; and to this union were born four children, Gloria, Linda, Craig, and Gwen. They made their home north of Wall on George Anderson’s homestead. Later they moved on the river breaks until Frank’s father’s death, when they moved to their current location northwest of Wall.

After she raised her children, she began working at Wall Drug. She found a great amount of enjoyment working with the young people and meeting people from various states. She also served on the election board for many years. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall, and was instrumental in the building of the new church. Due to health reasons, she spent the last five years of her life at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood.

Survivors include her husband Frank of Wall; four children Gloria Gunn and her husband Rodney of Rapid City, Linda Kooiker and her husband Brad of Harrisburg, Craig Anderson of Wall, and Gwen Davis and her husband Wayne of Wall; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister Edith Paulson of Wall; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Norman, Delbert and Dayton Sebade; and one sister Eunice Johnson.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wall, with Father Tim Hoag as celebrant.

Interment will be at the Wall Cemetery.
