Veronica Reedy was born on February 15, 1907, in Varina, Iowa, to James and Catherine (Huston) Reedy. At the age of one she moved with her parents to a homestead 12 miles northwest of Philip, South Dakota. After they proved up on the homestead they returned to Iowa in 1909.

In 1926 they returned to the Philip area where Veronica graduated from Philip High School in 1927. She attended Normal College in Madison, South Dakota. Veronica was employed at various jobs in the Philip area.

She was united in marriage to Harry Hart on July 8, 1937, in Top Bar, South Dakota. After her marriage they farmed and ranched in the Milesville and Hilland areas until moving into Philip in 1954.

Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on July 9, 1965. She continued to make her home in Philip until the time of her death.

Survivors include four sons, David Hart of Kadoka, James Hart of Billings, Montana, Hugh Hart of Spearfish, and Dan Hart of Rapid City; one daughter, Deanna Gyles of Philip; 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 7 step-grandchildren; one brother, John Reedy of Philip; one sister, Berniece Jensen of Philip; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hart; her parents; two sisters in infancy; one brother, Huston Reedy; and five step-sons.
