She was united in marriage to Larry Byrd on October 25, 1958 in Ft. Pierre, SD. They lived in Martin for three years while Larry worked for the State Emergency Department. Harvey and Tammy were born while living in Martin and Deanna stayed home to care for them.

In 1961 they moved to Kadoka. They had one more daughter, Kristie. While in Kadoka Deanna worked at the H & H for Uhlir’s for a number of years and later stayed home to do the books for their business, Byrd Redi Mix/Byrd Enterprises. She also worked off and on at the City Bar for twelve years before retiring in 2005 due to health reasons.

Deanna had a big part in raising most of her grandchildren until they were old enough to attend school. She loved reading, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Pat) Baye of Box Elder, and Kristie (Brad) Stone of Kadoka, a daughter-in-law, Karen Byrd; 9 grandchildren and one favorite grandchild; 3 great-grandchildren, brother Nelva (Janet) Louder of Rapid City, one sister, Joy Carlson of Irene, one sister-in-law, Linda Louder of Minneapolis, Minnesota, one brother-in-law, Marvis Buxcel of Pierre; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Byrd, on November 30, 2003; her son, Harvey Byrd, on October 30, 2016; her parents; one sister, Elsa Buxcel; and two brothers, Dwight Louder and Warren Louder.
