Bill served as Midland Town Marshall and also was a heavy equipment operator for Haakon county and the State Highway Department.

Bill was united in marriage to Verna Rhoda on January 1, 1941, at Rapid City. To this marriage one son was born, Tom. They lived in Montana for about ten years before moving back to Midland where he worked on several ranches in the Midland area.

They also owned and operated Bill's Place for 13 years before retiring in 1970. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors.
