LaVonne Delores Gerdon, the second of five children, was born to Robert and Pearl (Voss) Gerdon on March 9, 1932 on a farm known as the Cottonwood Creek area northwest of White River in Mellette County.
Vonnie attended grade school at Cottonwood Creek Country School, White River Public School and Prospect Valley Country School in Mellette County. She graduated from Belvidere High School in 1951.
On April 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Milton Foreman while he was home on furlough from the Army. Vonnie was known for her love for art, which included watercolor and oil paintings. She showed her paintings at various art shows. Vonnie painted pictures for relatives and friends throughout the years. She also enjoyed sewing, attending craft club and bowling.
Vonnie held summer jobs outside the home. She was employed at the Double H Cafe in Belvidere for ten years and for thirteen summers she worked at the 1880 Town.
Vonnie was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Belvidere and the Belvidere American Legion Auxiliary Post 144 where she served several terms as secretary or president. She was also a member of the Belvidere Art Club and Kadoka Craft Club.

Our sympathy and prayers to the family. We enjoyed times when we would visit at bowling, over supper and later at the Nursing home. Vonnie was very proud of her family.

Dear Ronda and family,
You can be assured of our love and prayers at this time of great loss. Praying the Lord will comfort you as only He can at the loss of your dear Mother.
I know, she was very proud of her family and rightfully so. God Bless you and guide you always.

~ Jim and Marjorie Anne Letellier Norris, SD 57560 (12/15/2007)
Dear Rhonda: I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. I hadn't seen your family for a very long time, but my Mom has kept me up on them and how they were doing. She commented much on how sweet your Mom was. Her picture in the on-line obituaty looks just like your Grandma Pearl! Again, I am sorry for your loss, but I know from Mom's stories that she is in Heaven now and having the grandest time! In Christ, Beryl (Addison) Geer

I just found out about Vonnie and I send your family all my sympathy. I worked with Vonnie at 1880 town and enjoyed her 'spark' for life. I enjoyed all her stories of growing up around my folks (Lawrence & Carolyn Manke) Vonnie had a smile that will always stay with me it was contagious in a way. My prayers are with the family in their time of healing.
