Eunice Johnson

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Monday, June 1, 2009
at the Rapid City Regional Hospital at the age of 86

Eunice M. Sebade was born March 30, 1923, in Wall, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Mooney) Sebade. She grew up in Wall, starting the 1st grade in the new Wall School, the same building her children and grandchildren received their education, graduating from Wall High School in 1941. After graduation she moved to Tacoma, Washington with her brothers Norman and Delbert and their spouses, where she worked at the Woolworth’s Store. After one year she moved to Richmond, California to be closer to her boyfriend Howard, who was serving in the United States Army.
Eunice was united in marriage to Howard Johnson on September 3, 1943, in San Pablo, California. After their marriage, Eunice returned to Wall while Howard received orders to be shipped overseas. After Howard’s honorable discharge, Howard, Eunice, and their son Bob returned to California where Howard worked for Standard Oil Company. In 1946, the family returned to Wall where Howard worked as a clerk for the Wall Post Office, and Eunice raised her three children. While in Wall, Eunice also worked at the Wall Lanes for a number of years.
Eunice’s husband Howard preceded her in death on June 11, 1992. Eunice continued to live in Wall and in January of 2002, moved into the Prairie Village apartments in Wall.  In May 2007, Eunice moved to the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood, where she has since resided.
Eunice was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the St. Patrick’s Altar Society, and the PTA, all of Wall.
Survivors include two sons Bob Johnson and his wife Vonna of Rapid City, and Gail Johnson and his wife Wanda of Wall; a daughter Marilyn Wulf and her husband Les of Pierre; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers Delbert Sebade and his wife Armista of Wall, Norman Sebade and his wife Doris of Tacoma, Washington, and Dayton Sebade and his wife Leah of Loveland, Colorado; two sisters Edith Paulsen of Wall, and Bernice Anderson and her husband Frank of Wall; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bob, Gail, Marilyn and families,
I was so saddened to get the phone call from Mom and Dad about Aunt Eunice. I wish we lived closer to SD so I could be there with you. Many memories of happy times I shared in your parent's home while growing up across the street have popped back into mind this week. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
