Alice Faith was born the daughter of Walter and Rose (Chapman) Whitcher on August 25, 1923 at the family’s home near Creighton, South Dakota, where she was raised and attended country school through the eighth grade.
She married William A. Naescher in October 1949, and to this union a daughter Naomi Hope was born on December 8, 1953.
William and Alice farmed and ranched ten miles north of Wall until William passed away in 1970. Alice continued to run things on her own until she was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2004. She then sold her cattle and cut back on farming. She lived there until March 2010 when she moved to Wall. When not taking care of her Hereford cattle or farming Alice always enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Laura Potter and her husband Bruce of Brandon, South Dakota, and Jacob Frein (Melissa) of Rapid City; four great-grandchildren Eliza, Colt, Carsen and Wyatt; one brother Walter Whitcher, Jr. (Jenny) of Crawford, Nebraska; a sister Ruth Sharp of Rapid City; a son-in-law Lloyd Frein (Marianne) of Philip; five step-grandchildren, Tadd Moriarty of Chicago, IL, Vance Moriarty of Germany, Pat (Amanda) Moriarty of Rapid City, Mikal (Rian) Rasmussen of Des Moines, IA, and Ian Moriarty of Rapid City; one step-great-grandson Brodi Moriarty; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband William Naescher on December 25, 1970; her daughter Naomi Hope Frein on June 20, 1990; her brother James Whitcher; and her sister Hope Whitcher.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.
Visitation was one hour preceding the services at the church.
Interment was at the Wall Cemetery.
This day is remembered and quietly kept. No words are needed, we shall never forget. For those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen and unheard, but always near, so love, so missed and so very dear.

Jacob and Laura, You grandmother was a very special person in my life. I loved her so much. She was always so good to all my kids and grandkids. She was the hardest working woman I have ever known. She worked her fields sun up to sun down, no matter how hot and on a tractor with no cab. For years and years and years. She was amazing. She was very proud of you both and she adored her great grandkids. Hold on to the memories because I know I will. Love, Donna and family

To all of Alice's family, how she will be missed. She was such a dear lady, so quiet, calm and steady. So beautiful and kind she always worked so hard yet always looked like a lady. I will miss her seeing her black ford and red pickup on the road or even her old tractor putting down the gravel on a hot day and she just bouncing along. How she loved you all. We will miss her for sure.

May Alice rest in peace. I will keep you in my prayers this week. A woman with this history of life and work and love shows us something of God's patience and resilience. I am on a trip to visit benefactors in Illinois....Fr. Ron

I remember when I was in high school a bunch of us kids in the Creighton area would stop at her house on Halloween. Alice always had cocoa and homemade monster cookies ready for us. It was always fun to visit with her and listen to her stories. May she rest in peace. God Bless.
