After their children were in school, Alice worked part-time in the drug store until 1958 when she began working as a postal service clerk, a position she held at the Philip Post Office for 28 years, prior to retiring in 1986. She has since continued to make her home in Philip.
Alice was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Philip, and the W.E.L.C.A. of the church. She served nine years on the church council of which one year was president. She was a member of the United Postal Workers Union.

To our other family~
I was saddened to get "that call" this morning, but a part of me was also relieved that our dear Grama Al was no longer suffering. In the past few weeks as we've been spending time with her, we've also been reflecting on all of the special memories. Al was our very first friend when we moved here and holds a very special place in our hearts. Kelcey will always remember their special tea parties and getting to gamble with Grama Al. Katie and Lukas sure loved the lemon drops and trick or treating at Al's house.
We are so Very richly blessed to have known Al and will always hold a special place in our hearts for her. Although these days are filled with tears cuz we can no longer hold her hand, we know she is with God and no longer suffering.
May you always know we are here if you ever need anything!
Love to you all,
David, Michelle, Kelcey,Katie and Lukas

Used to baby-sit for she and Mill every Sunday night so they could go to the movie. I will miss her very much when I return to Philip. She was a wonderful person and will be missed by all of you. You are all in our prayers. Sincerely, Bev and Cork Jahner

Dear Family,
Kaye and I were saddened to hear of the passing of one of the Lord's real Saints, Alice Carr. We so enjoyed their last visit to New Mexico when Mill went to the Lovington Noon Lions Club as my guest and picked up a few trading pins. I know Al will be missed by all but I also know your memories of her will be a blessing to each of you. If any of you ever get out this way, we would love to see you. Take care and God bless!

Dear Carrs All, I'm sorry I can't be at the services for Dear Al. She was a gracious and friendly lady. I really liked her. I am in Yellowstone National Park with my foreign student sister from Turkey. We have known each other 48 yrs. and this is her first visit to the US. We are traveling for 3 weeks. I feel very sad I can't be with you and hug you so I'm sending my love over email and want you to know I thought your Mom and grandmother was a great lady. Dear Patty,Judi,Marshall and families
It was with much saddness I read of your mothers passing. She was a classy lady, who worked hard and always had a smile and a kind word. I remember being at your home during high school, and feeling very welcome. I believe God is welcoming his good and faithful servant Alice, and she is enjoying a well deserved rest filled with peace. Please know we will remember your family in prayer during these difficult days ahead. Hugs---DeMaris and Erv Nesheim

Gram Al was a true gem of a grandmother. She shared her life with others. She demonstrated that you don't have to be "blood" to be family. We got to know Gram Al through the Butler family. It was always refreshing to get to visit with Gram Al at all the birthday parties of the Butler grandchildren. We would visit about the ranch work; which she had a deep understanding. Then we could sit back and watch the children play. Gram Al was a delightful person. So kind, gentle and caring. But most of all she shared her unconditional love to others. Chuck and I are very greatful that Grandma Al was a part of our families lives.Thank you for sharing Gram Al! She made a lasting memories in the hearts of many. What a legacy to give to those you leave behind as you journey on to your eternal life. God Bless
